Sue Relf Sue's news this week so far

At 1:45pm on May 14th, 2008, Sue Relf said… Hello everyone - good news: joseph Greenan has won, for two years running, the Bible Knowledge Competition for the whole of Sussex Boys Brigade. Brilliant Joseph. Community Wise has won an award from EDF Energy for £3000 (ooooh!). (They have millions of course.) The money is to undertake a renewable energy appraisal and help us to implement the proposals. The appraisal took place this Monday past. We could have solar panels and other such stuff by 200… Continue

Tozer writes, What peace it brings to the Christian heart to realise that our heavenly Father never differs from Himself. In coming to Him at any time we need not wonder whether we shall find Him in receptive mood. He is always receptive to misery and need, as well as to love and faith. He does not keep office hours nor set aside periods when He will see no one. Neither does He change His mind about anything. Today, this moment, He feels towards His creatures, toward babies, toward the sick, the fa… Continue

Dennis & Cynthia Robinson Nothing Else.

HEBREWS CHAPTER 4: 12 SAYS For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart. Nothing else can do in the human mind what God's Word does, and nothing else can take the place of God's Word. One day a Christian visited a Minister in his home. As he sat in the study, he began to read one of the Minister's books. Suddenly he cried, "Glo… Continue

Steve Blundell Holy Week Bible Study - Saturday & Sunday

Saturday I wonder if the enforced rest of the Passover was more frustrating to the women than the men? The women had prepared spices and oils to pour over Jesus body, but because they were devout Jews, they had to stay at home and not do any work. Work included walking more than a certain distance, preparing food, in fact anything that was not really necessary. The purpose was to allow the people to enjoy the Passover festival. It is not possible to really enjoy a day off or a hol… Continue

Steve Blundell Holy Week Bible Study - Thursday & Friday

Thursday (Luke 23) Jesus is now taken to Pilate who tries to pass the buck by sending Him to Herod. Herod sends Jesus back to Pilate, who gives the people a choice. He will release Jesus, who as far as he can see has done absolutely nothing criminal, or Barabbas, who has committed murder and should die anyway. The crowd choose Barabbas. This is the same crowd who had cheered for Jesus on Sunday. Pilate washes his hands in public, showing that he wants nothing to do with Jesus deat… Continue

Steve Blundell Holy Week Bible Study - Wednesday

Wednesday (Matthew 26v17 – 75) If you can source a map of Jerusalem showing Jesus footsteps in His last days this would be helpful, because in the space of a few hours, Jesus is taken to several places within Jerusalem, being beaten all along the way. If you have a copy of Miracle Maker, watch it from the point where the disciples are gathering for the Passover to where Peter denies Jesus. There is now an element of secrecy entering into the story. Jesus tells the disciples (Mark… Continue

Steve Blundell Holy Week - Tuesday Bible Study

Here is Caroline's next Bible Study >Tuesday (Matthew 22v1 – 14, 26v6 - 13 Jesus does some intense teaching here and we have it recorded in chapters 22 – 25 of Matthew. He tells many parables, mostly about being ready for His return, which was a bit odd when you think about it, because He had not gone away yet!!!!! We need to understand that He was teaching in a public place (possibly in the Temple court from which He had ejected the boot sale) and His listeners were the relig… Continue

Steve Blundell Holy Week Bible Study

Caroline Kimber has put together a Bible Study series for Holy Week. It starts today, why not take the oppotunity this week to reflect on the week leading upto the first Easter. JESUS LAST WEEK Last words are important, a person who is going to leave this world will not waste breath or time on trivia. And Jesus was no exception. In His last week He positively ‘crammed’ the disciples with teaching and examples. Use this material in any way you like but to get the most out of it, y… Continue
